FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 11, 2009
McCall Aviation Acquires Salmon Air
McCall, ID – McCall Aviation, the parent company of McCall Air, announced the acquisition of Salmon Air based in Salmon, Idaho. As of May 1, 2009, all operations of the former Salmon Air have been taken on by McCall Air, creating the largest backcountry and scheduled commuter air service provider in Idaho.
McCall Aviation President Dan Scott said, “We are thrilled to be expanding our operations through this acquisition and we are excited that we will be able to offer Salmon Air’s customers all the convenience they are used to along with our special focus on safety, service and overall operational excellence.”
With the acquisition, McCall Air will be operating a fleet of sixteen airplanes and will continue all operations of Salmon Air. Through the combined operations, McCall Air will now have a major presence in Salmon, with no interruptions in service to Salmon Air customers. “Customers can expect to see a few changes, like a reduction in prices on many routes flown by both McCall Air and Salmon Air, but the commitment we have to our customers will remain unchanged,” said Rod Nielsen, director of flight operations.
“This was the right move at the right time,” explained JoAnn Wolters, President of Salmon Air. “It was very important to us that the new owners continue to provide excellent service to our current customers, and based on McCall Air’s stellar reputation, we are confident that will happen.” “Great synergy and efficiency is created by joining two well known Idaho flight operations,” added Dan Schroeder, Salmon Air’s Director of Flight Operations. “JoAnn and Dan are long time owners of Salmon Air, having built the company from the ground up. I’m honored to have the opportunity to carry on the great tradition that is Salmon Air,” Scott said.
According to Scott, Salmon Air will be added to the McCall Air family and will be operated using the same principles that have been in place since he purchased McCall Air in 2002. “McCall Air has three basic principles:
- safety, with pilots and maintenance held to higher standards than FAA requirements,
- operational excellence, with a focus on deeply experienced and well trained staff using the appropriate fleet for the flights required by our customers, and
- first class customer service, with the understanding that customer safety and satisfaction are at the foundation of everything we do,” said Scott. “Incorporating Salmon Air’s operations into ours will result in a better product for our customers since we are now able to provide an expanded fleet, better pricing, more overall capacity, and an expanded base of operations in Salmon.”
